The Company

A household name in designer women’s fashion, our client is a true Australian success story. With a feminine, contemporary flair, their collections epitomise style, fit and form. With a Head Office based in Sydney’s inner west, the owner has now decided it is time to bring a People & Culture expert inhouse! As this company goes on a continued journey of growth and refinement, you will play a critical role in supporting company culture, the development of people leaders and managing all operational HR tasks.

The Leaders

Reporting to the Director, you will work in and for this business of visionary creatives. Practical, hard working and focused on their journey ahead, to partner effectively with this team, you will be motivated to progress your People & Culture career from this foundation role that will see you straddle a breadth of employee focused tasks and initiatives.  

The Opportunity

As the first standalone People & Culture incumbent, it will be critical that in this role you lay a strong foundation of process, whilst getting on top of the day to day operational needs of the brand. Specifically this may include:

  • Overseeing the recruitment process for all new employees, from onboarding to induction plans to exits;
  • Working with people managers on performance and employee relations issues;
  • Workshopping learning and development initiatives and offering inhouse guidance on solutions to skills gaps;
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation, regulations and best practice through the continual review and build of policy and processes;
  • Setting the tone for culture and working to positively impact engagement;
  • Driving projects connected with systems and performance; and
  • Partnering with the Director on an overarching strategy to grow and enable the brand through its most powerful asset, it’s people!

About You

To be successful in this role you will ideally be tertiary qualified in human resources and have a strong working knowledge of employment law and legislation. With a foundation as a HR generalist, you will enjoy a role with variety and being hands on and executional in all tasks. This fashion label is set to soar to new heights; however their adoption of People & Culture practices is in its infancy! So, capability to learn, grow and develop frameworks in line with the business needs is a must. Finally, you will be comfortable working from the inner west head office in person. Our client is open to a fulltime or part-time arrangement dependant on the candidate’s experience.
