The People & Culture team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the workplace not only meets but exceeds the needs of their diverse workforce. Due to the departure of a cherished and longstanding team member, the coveted role of People & Culture Manager has become available. Stepping into this leadership role at this moment presents an opportunity to build on a strong foundation and momentum, setting the stage for exciting growth and sophistication in the years ahead. This is an interim opportunity of 3-6 months however may be considered as a temp to perm for the right candidate.

The Leaders

The CEO is an authentic and practical leader who has a long-standing history leading successful teams and organisations within the FMCG sector. They believe in the People & Culture function and as such they have also appointed an interim HR Director who would work with the Manager in a mentoring capacity to ensure they integrate you successfully into the business.

The Opportunity

This role will lead two P&C team members; a standalone Payroll & Remuneration Manager and a HR Coordinator. In addition to your people leadership duties, this role will see you focus on performing all operational day to day HR duties to ensure a strong level of organisational performance and engagement whilst looking at HR Projects.

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing all recruitment and onboarding processes (with administrative support from the coordinator);
  • Facilitating performance and career development conversations including employee relations and exits;
  • Maintaining and developing contemporary policies, procedures, and systems (Employment Hero and JobAdder);
  • Managing employee engagement, including the development of events and exercises plus working on the embedding and bringing to life of company values;
  • Management of the People & Culture budget, including the oversight of payroll and remuneration processes;
  • Regular reporting back to committees, the boards, the CEO, and other stakeholders; and
  • A variety of different HR projects connected with people insights, employer branding, learning and development, and organisational design.

About You

We are looking for an experienced People & Culture Manager who has worked in a fast-paced, small to mid-sized dynamic environment! You will thrive in a role that is balanced between the operational and strategic; capable of interacting with a board (and interpreting information from them) and equally enjoy being the front line ‘go to’ for the workforce who see you and your team as the guiding influence for culture, development and support. You’re an enthusiastic, flexible, and dedicated HR Generalist, with experience leading a small team and taking on project work. This opportunity is based on the outskirts of the Sydney CBD with a flexible hybrid working arrangement in place (with office-based anchor days).
